Low Back Pain Relief
Back pain can be the result of an injury, strenuous and repetitive activity, or an underlying medical condition. Poor posture, car accidents, and sports-related injuries are also common ways that someone may develop back pain. Whatever the reason, backaches can have a range of negative effects on your daily life, preventing you from performing everyday activities. About 80% of Americans experience a back problem at some point in their lives and around 20% of those experiencing acute lower back pain will end up with chronic pain, meaning that the back pain persists for more than 3 months.
The treatment tools that I have used successfully on patients over the years are
- Manual Therapy
- (Postural Alignment and exercises with) Clinical Somatics
- Acupuncture and Cupping
- Dry Needling (IMS)
- Ultrasound and electrotherapy
- Kinesiology Taping
- Biomagnetic Pair Therapy
- Visceral Manipulation

Neck & Shoulder Pain relief
Do you feel pain when turning your head, bending forward to tie your shoes or get numbness and/or tingling into the hands or fingers? The neck is an integral part of your everyday movements, and neck pain can create undesirable challenges on daily tasks you can usually complete with ease. If left untreated, it can lead to some serious conditions.
After a thorough assessment of your neck range of motion and functionality, the treatment will consist of “hands-on” treatment and some or more of the following treatment options:
- Manual Therapy and myo-fascial release techniques
- Postural Alignment and Awareness
- Clinical Somatics Exercises
- Acupuncture and cupping
- Dry Needling (IMS)
- Ultrasound and electrotherapy
- Kinesiology Taping
- Biomagnetic Pair Therapy

Migraine & Headache Relief
Approximately 80-90% of people across North America endure occasional or frequent tension headaches. Whether they are acute and temporary or constant and chronic (such as migraines), headaches can all be treated with physiotherapy at Trusting Hands Physiotherapy.
Once the reason for your headache pain is pinpointed, we will establish a physiotherapy treatment plan to relieve the symptoms and treat the origin of the pain.
This tension headache treatment usually includes the gentle manual mobilization of the facet joints of your upper neck and back, gentle myofascial release techniques, gentle decompression manual therapy, cupping, acupuncture, dry needling and electrotherapy as well as postural alignment and breathing techniques that help reduce stress and increase awareness. Kinesiology taping, Biomagnetic Pair Therapy as well as Infrared LIght therapy can help relief symptoms effectively.

Face & Jaw Pain/TMJ Disorder Relief
Have you been recently experiencing some pain in your jaw? Is it accompanied by a painful, clicking sound? Have you been finding that your mouth doesn’t seem to open as wide as it once did and that this has been restricting which foods you can eat? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then please read below for an understanding of how physiotherapy might be able to help you.
How do I treat TMJ dysfunction?
As your physiotherapist, I will determine if your jaw muscles are tight and then likely perform either gentle soft tissue massage or intramuscular stimulation (IMS), which uses fine needles to release trigger points in the affected muscles. Often, the muscles that are the tightest are deep enough that superficial massage and stretching does not work, and IMS is a better treatment technique. Manual traction of the mandible combined with gentle joint glides in specific directions, is often helpful to restore proper alignment of the TMJ disc. Acupuncture and Biomagnetic Pair Therapy can relief pain, muscle tension and reduce stress on your muscles and joints.
Wrist, Arm & Hand Pain Relief
You use your hands, wrists, and elbows constantly throughout the day – but nothing will make you realize just how much you use them like feeling the aches and pains within them. Any form of inflammation or pain, in form of a common tennis or golfer’s elbow, a wrist strain or sprain, a fracture, thumb or De Quervain tenosynovitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, pain due to arthritic changes in your fingers and hands, will likely be debilitating in most of your day to day activities and interfere with dressing yourself, using your phone and performing simple self care tasks, such as washing or brushing your hair, opening and closing buttons or shoe laces etc.
Experiencing numbness and tingling into hands and fingers is another common symptom of upper extremity conditions.
Physiotherapy treatment can help relieve your pain, restore your range of motion, and get you back to living your normal life. In many cases, physiotherapy treatments can even help you eliminate the need for harmful painkillers or invasive surgical procedures for nerve-damaging conditions like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
At Trusting Hands Physiotherapy, I use a combination of hot/cold therapy, manual therapy, ultrasound, acupuncture and dry needling (IMS) in conjunction with mobility and strength conditioning training to restore function and get you pain free as soon as possible.

Hip And Knee Pain Relief
Do you feel unstable in your knee or does feel like your knees will “give out” from beneath you while standing or walking? Do you have trouble sleeping or getting out of bed in the morning because of hip pain? If so, know that you are not alone; hip and knee pain is very common!
Whether you have hip pain, knee pain, or both, physiotherapy can help you get to the bottom of your problem safely and comfortably, without the use of harmful drugs or surgery. Your knee is a hinge joint that can only move forward and backward. When you squat, your knees support six times your body weight more than your hips. Proper hip and knee movement allow you to perform complex movements such as standing, walking, running, and dancing without falling over.
The hips and knees are part of the same kinetic chain, which means they are a group of weight-bearing joints that must work in unison for the body to function properly.
As a result, issues with your knees can lead to issues with your hips, ankles and low back. Stress and deterioration may be placed on another part of the kinetic chain if one part of the chain is out of balance. It’s all intertwined!
Your physiotherapist at Trusting Hands can assess your entire kinetic chain and determine imbalances in your lower extremity. Successful treatment options are an increase of postural awareness in standing and walking, treat muscle imbalances with IMS, myofascial release techniques and stretching and strengthening exercises as well as acupuncture, cupping, Tens machine and Kinesiology taping.

Pelvis And Core Rehabilitation
Do you feel like you have to run to the bathroom all the time?? Do you pee when you run, laugh, cough, or sneeze? Do you ever feel a heaviness in your pelvis as if something inside is going to fall out? Do you have lower back or pelvic pain that isn’t going away and you feel like you’ve tried everything to help?
What is the pelvic floor?
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that span the base of the pelvis like a hammock or sling and provide support to those organs that sit above them within the pelvic girdle. Why have an internal exam with a trained pelvic health physiotherapist?
An internal exam is considered the gold standard for the assessment of the pelvic floor muscles. Being able to feel these muscles directly through an internal exam allows a trained therapist to determine if the muscles are weak (hypotonic), too tight (hypertonic), or a combination of the two. What treatments help to relief pelvis and core related issues:
- Manual therapy
- Acupuncture
- IMS
- Biomagnetic Pair Therapy
- Visceral Manipulation
- Clinical Somatics and other exercises

Foot And Ankle Pain Relief
Do you find yourself missing out on many of your favourite activities due to foot and ankle pain? Has limping, hobbling, or simply staying off your feet replaced walking, jogging, dancing, or doing a day’s work? From soft tissue strains and degenerative joint problems to broken bones, plantar fasciitis or achilles tendinopathy, problems afflicting the foot and/or ankle can put serious constraints on your life.
Physiotherapy not only eases your pain safely and effectively; it also treats the underlying issues behind your pain so you can enjoy better function and health.
The physiotherapy plan you receive for your foot or ankle problem will vary according to the exact cause of your pain and what stage of the problem you’re experiencing. Common techniques include:
- Ice/ hot therapy- applications of heat and cold can help reduce inflammation and soothe soft tissue pain
- Ultrasound, infrared light therapy, and electrical muscle stimulation – These techniques can all help you heal more quickly.
- Manual therapy – Massage therapy and other forms of tissue manipulation can boost blood flow, ease pain, and break up adhesions.
- Exercise – Range of motion exercises can help both chronic conditions such as arthritis and acute sprains or strains (after the initial swelling has come down).
- Strengthening and balancing exercises can increase joint stability and rehabilitate an injured foot/ankle.
- IMS or Dry Needling uses a small acupuncture needle to release trigger points and painful areas in the muscle tissue.
- Acupuncture can help reduce inflammation, pain and balance muscle tone through gentle nerve stimulation.
- Kinesiology taping supports healing tissue and lymphatic repair.
